Commercial Comix
Client: Astalavista IT News and Security Community
Designer: Nina Mierowska
The following series of comic stripes that were published at Astalavista were observations of a life of IT specs who experience comical abstract situations.
Astalavista is a nonprofit online community, security based, and a hacking community located in Switzerland.
In the past couple of years Astalavista opened an entertainment section were the users could also enjoy the nature of their forum in a series of satirical graphic stories.
The project would relate in a humouristic way to the nature of the IT communities: Astalavista's users and contributors.
Tech speak
Tech speak is a form of jargon that uses buzzwords, specialized technical terms, or technical slang that is incomprehensible to the outside listener.
In IT communities, like Astalavista, there is a specialized jargon, that allows those who are experts within that industry to concisely convey ideas that may be confusing, misleading, or nonsensical to a laic.
Generation Gap
The generational gap is a comical subject referring to the differences of outlook between people of different technology generations, in this case a son and his mother.
Abstract Humour
Long working hours often lead one to do something unusual and quite often very abstract in nature.
