Illustrator Daily Challenge - Textured Typography

This Adobe Illustrator Daily Creative Challenge was to create some textured typography using vector textures and the Lasso tool. In the video, they showed how to create additive and subtractive texture, so I wanted to experiment with both and create my own textures from black and white photos.
The first set includes a vector image of palm trees from a photo by Thomas Vena on Unsplash. Removing all the extra pieces of the vector image was time consuming and tedious, but worth it. For the subtractive texture image I added the text in a darker color slightly offset behind it in order to be able to read it.
The brick vector image for this set was created from a photo by Sharon McCutcheon on Unsplash. I ended up using both the brick and the mortar shapes that were created in order to make sure the text was still readable for the additive and subtractive textures. My personal favorite is the additive texture in the center.
The wood grain texture was created from a photo by Riezki Aulia on Unsplash. For this one I felt the grain texture was dense enough to allow readability in the subtractive example, even if it is a little difficult.
