My first approach to the design was the sand dunes at the top of the aerial photo in the competition brief. It gave me the idea of a topographic surface with levels, divided with pedestrian circulation, like islands, becoming the vantage points of my project with additional uses: meeting squares, sitting lines and walking paths.
It was a challenge to design an organic shaped structure with a reusable module. So I designed in “low resolution”: a pixilated design, with pallets as pixels. In order to complete this landscape, I created an atmosphere by bonding these islands with ribbons across the whole site, tied to the scaffold towers, achieving a space with depth and strong character.
