I've been blessed with the opportunity to work with ARTS! by the People, a non profit that uses the powers of music, art, and writing to enhance people's lives. I'm interning and instructing some classes with them this summer, and spend most of my time in a senior housing facility, where I meet the most amazing and inspiring human beings, who have survived and thrived through the Holocaust, through lives as immigrants and workers and mothers and fathers, and are still smiling. Below are sketches I've made that try to encapsulate the essence of attending these workshops. Notations will be made as needed :)
The following few sketches were made when Paul and Andrea led a workshop that combined spoken word poetry with interpretive dance, and was absolutely beautiful.
This sketch was inspired by Ellen's creative writing workshop, in which a participant shared her story about sorting through her grandchildren's socks. It was a very cute story and gave us all a laugh :)
