CritterCal Pals
cuddly awareness for endangered animals
PROPOSAL
These are the rough preliminary sketches produced during my initial brainstorming phase. I had roughly 5 different endangered animals planned out; however, due to this being a RISD foundation year final project, there were time constraints, so I settled on bringing only the sea turtle and seal to life.
PACKAGING
I first used ClipStudioPaint to rough out where I wanted certain colors to go and also where to place words and patterns. Then, I used Adobe Illustrator to make vectors of the animals and Adobe Indesign CC to format everything.
SEA TURTLE & SEAL: RESULTS
The packaging and stuffed animals themselves turned out the way I wanted them to. I chose to use minky fabric to create the plushes due to its softness and light weight, and used Bristol board for the packaging.

If I were to recreate this project or make a second version, I would decrease the volume of the packaging so the stuffed animals inside of them could fit more snugly. Also, I misjudged the shape of the packaging so the two containers don't sit together as well as I'd like them to.

SEA TURTLE
This stuffed animal sea turtle is being suffocated by a plastic bag to emphasize the grim fact that the population of these turtles have been drastically decreasing due to water pollution.
SEAL
This seal plushie is wearing a coat made out of its own fur to highlight the unethical seal skin trade and its devastating effects on wild seal populations.
