Scenario
The year is 2030 and the UK has just faced a decade of disruption following Brexit and Coronavirus. In London, living costs continue to rise, the population is rapidly growing, and pollution is increasing. The wealth gap between the capital and the north is expanding and further reinforcing a north/south divide.
The Mayors of Merseyside, Greater Manchester, and West Yorkshire launched a campaign for Northern Independence in 2028. Following a referendum, the people have voted for Northern Independence, making Northpolitan a new nation-state, comprising of the largest metropolitan areas in the north of England.
The challenge is to create an identity for the new nation state which encompasses their new ideologies and values, whilst incorporating the individual personalities of the three separate regions. The campaign needs to address everyone in the region, celebrating the area but also persuading people that this is the right thing to do.
