Alachua County Library District Redesign Case Study
Alachua County Library District is an independent special district and the sole provider of public library services to approximately 250,000 citizens in Alachua County, with 12 branch locations, two bookmobiles, and multiple deposit collections. Its goal is to provide all community members with free, open and equal access to education, information, and entertainment.
The Problem: Scrolling through the Alachua County Library website homepage alone there is a lot of issues. The homepage feels really out of date and not easy to navigate due to spacing issues. There also is no real eye catching call to action which could drive away potential customers. There is barely white space and everything is boxed off, little to no breathing room.
The Goal: The goal for this project is to redesign 3 pages for the client, the homepage, the fines page, and the library card page. The client is looking for a clean, minimal, yet effective redesign for their website. The client wants a trendy and less cluttered site than what they have right now.
The Solution: Now a days, people prefer a more simple design with not much to read. With my design I make that happen, everything is straight to the point. This new modern touch will help the company tremendously and help the over all user experience of the website.
My Process: To start off, I researched successful library websites . I gathered some screenshots that inspired me and went from there. Based on what I learned during the exploration of the website I and many other people were not satisfied. I took detailed notes on what needed to be fixed and went straight from there.

End Goal: The final product of the 3 redesigns suited the clients needs. As you can see I went for a very minimal approach, with lots of white space to help the readers.
