Intel and Maxon invited me to create a CPU heavy scene to flex the muscles of the new Intel® Xeon® W-3175x processor in combination with Cinema 4D R21. Quixel also joined the team with providing me access to their huge database of realistic 3D scans.
I was trusted with full creative freedom, but challenged to use a combination of the following tools:

- C4Ds Physical Render Engine, which includes Intel® Embree 3.2.2
- C4Ds Volume Builder (used for the floating Sphere)
- Quixel Megascans 3D Assets (used for the landscape)

The result is a loose depiction on how our world may have been created. It sets you back at the dawn of time, where a mystical sphere, filled with natural elements and magic, terraformed our planet.

The superfast CPU enabled me to experiment with amounts of generated data that would be impossible to handle with my old workstation. With Cinema 4Ds Volume Builder I generated several sequences of animated geometry, which added up to 80GB of alembic files. Just creating this amount of detail would've taken ages with my old workstation, but was managable quite easily with the Intel® Xeon® W-3175x processor.
Another chapter was using Quixel Megascans on this project. Thanks to the great combination of low resolution geometry and high detail displacement maps, I could render a realistic landscape, while keeping my viewport fast and the scenes file size down.

It was a great experience to me that helped me to reach further and push beyond the limits I have faced before.

The best part is that you can actually DOWNLOAD my scene file, including all the 3d scans and take it apart!

And here a bit of R'n'D, which lead to the Quixel Abstract Series ( still top secret ).
This is a short making of video that I have created for the Siggraph 2020 promotion of Intel. The video quickly explains the different steps taken in a project like this.
Here you can find a short article and video, which goes more into depth of the different Intel technologies that are getting used in the “3D creation workflow”.
