Student Project

Goal: To create food and drink menus for a fictional Thai restaurant that is young and trendy with a slight novelty value.

I wanted the restaurant menu to feel fresh but still maintain a distinct Thai feeling.

Thai art has a strong element of patterns and line art.  I used a patterned background and added in hand drawn lines of noodles.  I modified this to create a beverage pouring on the drink menu.

I chose small black images throughout my menus, as they had a thai street food vibe to them, as well as tying in with the line drawing element.

For the font, I wanted to have a ‘noodly’ look to the text.  As well, I replaced the O’s in the name with simple line drawings that represented a bowl of noodles.  For the restaurant name, the font I chose has a capital T that looked too much like a J.  I converted the text to outline mode and modified that letter.
