Trip: a self-guided walking tour app
Trip is a self-guided walking tour app for the city of Tripoli, Lebanon.
The main purpose behind the app is to encourage tourists and locals, especially the youth, to roam in the city of Tripoli, especially the old souks, and to discover its beauty and hidden gems on their own, without the assistance of a guide. In addition to that, the app also helps boosting the city's economy, by displaying local artisanal products to its users.
The app allows its users to choose a prepared route from a variety of options, or to custom make their own, based on their personal points of interest.
Detailed information about each route is provided to the user, such as the duration, the attractions included, the history of the cites and so on.
The Logo
The logo is a combination of the letter “T”, the initial of "trip" and "Tripoli", and the Arabic letter “ط”, the initial of “طرابلس”.
In addition to the letters, directional signs are displayed in the logo, referencing to the app’s main objective: guiding people through of Tripoli. The street directions are inspired by roads, roundabouts, and directional signs.
Color palette
Tripoli is also known as “Madinat al Fayhaa”, “مدينة الفيحاء” in Arabic. "Al Fayhaa" is a term derived from the Arabic verb "Faha", which is used to indicate the diffusion of a scent, since previously, Tripoli was known for its vast orange orchards that gave out beautiful smells.
In addition to that, Tripoli is the only city in Lebanon that has islands. The app offers its users a chance to visit these islands through boat tours.
Hence, the app's color palette that is composed of orange and blue, is inspired by the city's geological nature.

The main navigation part is made out of four sections:

The icons are designerd using the directional road elements, in order to have consistency among the icons, and as reference to the logo.
