Car Illustrations; The humble, yet stylish Fiat 500
A European future classic. They may be small and not very fast but they're just too adorable not to love.
I never thought I’d own a Fiat 500 to be honest and to get one as a first car has been an absolute blast ! They’re such sweet little cars and I knew I just had to illustrate them. I drew a lot when I was younger so it made sense that I picked these skills up as I reached adulthood but whilst I was constructing this project, my mum reminded me of the time I sent a (very awful) car design to chrysler when I was about 7 or 8 years old… At least I was ambitious.
I started with the base of the car, adding shading and highlights when needed. Undoubtedly the wheels were the hardest to work out how to construct and after a few different attempts, these seemed to be the best I was going to get !
I ended up recolouring the artwork mainly because the fiat facebook group I’m in wanted them in different colours; after all the colours of these little Fiats are one of the things that make them so iconic! Even if I happen to drive a white one which really is the most common (see them absolutely everywhere).
This was a sweet little project for me to do I must admit, it was nice being able to make something for myself (and my fiat group chat) and the words of encouragement from them were lovely.
