Rip City Stories: Stuck in the Elevator

The Portland Trail Blazers produced a series of stories from current and former Blazers players.
I chose to animate the story of the team being trapped in an elevator on a road trip to Boston.
I would listen to the audio recording over and over, envisioning the scene, variety of character actions and marking the actions on my After Effects timeline. Since all of the characters were animated in their own compositions it was very important that I stay as organized as possible.
It was important that the characters be broken up in specific layers in Illustrator so that they could be properly animated in After Effects. I used the plugins Duik Bassel to rig and control the character's limbs and Joysticks N Sliders to animate head tilt, eye movement, eyebrows, and mouths for expressions.
After illustration and character animation was complete I created camera movements, coloring and visual effects for finishing touches.
