GÈNERE A TROSSOS GENDER PIECE BY PIECE

Gènere a Trossos neix amb la intenció de qüestionar i trencar el marc binari del gènere. El gènere és una estructura social que ens afecta desde que naixem a través de les expectatives que es tenen sobre nosaltres, moldejant la nostra identitat per encaixar-nos dins el que entenem com un home o una dona. El gènere condiciona el desenvolupamenxt de la identitat humana, limitant les possibilitats que aquesta podria tenir. L’objectiu del treball és deconstruir els límtis de l’expressió física del gènere a través de l’experimentació amb les infinites possibilitats de la identitat humana.

This project was born with the intention of questioning and breaking the gender binary. Gender is a social structure that affects everyone since we are born through the expectations society has on us. It shapes us through our growth until we fit in the mold of what we understand as a “man” or a “woman”. Gender conditions the development of the human identity, restricting its possibilities. The goal of Gender Piece by Piece is to deconstruct the limits of the physicial expression of gender, experimenting with the endless possibilities of the human identity outside of gender norms.

A través d’una activitat interactiva, es crea una visió múltiple del que podria ser la identitat fora del gènere. Diferents usuaris han creat un personatge utilitzant les peces i després han determinat el seu nom i personalitat, creant una relació entre la imatge d’una persona i la seva identitat. Aquestes diferents identitats es representen a través d’un conjunt de cartes.

Using an interactive activity, we create a diverse vision of what identity could be outside of gender. Different users have created a character using the offered pieces and then they have determined their name and personality, creating a correlation with a person’s image and their identity. These different identities created are represented in a collection of cards.

En tant que el projecte parla de la construcció de la identitat a través de diferents objectes, els resultats dels usuaris es representen també sobre diferents objectes que es poden portar. Utilitzant ungles, tatuatges i roba es representa la idea de prendre control sobre l’expressió de la identitat d’un mateix.

Since the project is about how identity is built through different objects, the users’ results are represented through different objects that can be worn. Using nails, tattoos and clothes we represent the idea of taking control of one’s own identity.
